Wildlife facts, photos, and film clips of cheetahs, lemurs, seals, sea lions, owls, vultures, ducks, frogs, snakes, tortoises, giraffes, squirrels, otters, and other wild animals.

I wanted to share some of the information I gathered during production from my research and interviews with the animal experts/keepers of Coyote Point Museum, Safari West, Lindsay Wildlife Museum, and The Marine Mammal Center. The clips are raw footage from my feature documentary, ANIMAL CRACKERS.

The clips on this page require the QuickTime player which can be downloaded for free from the Apple website.

You may alredy know that the cheetah is the fastest land animal but did you know why? Cheetahs are very slender like sight hounds (like my dog Reggie); also like a dog, cheetahs have non retractable claws that help them with traction similar to cleats. A cheetah can reach speeds fast enough to pass you on the freeway (or highway for non Californians) in only three strides.

Giraffes have black tongues to protect them from the sun, helpful since they are that much closer than you and I. Did you know that giraffes can kick in any direction (360 degrees)? This ability helps defend them from predators.

Grey foxes are members of the canine family. In common with wolves and other wild canine, foxes have legs that join at the front of their shoulders instead of the sides like a domestic dog. This helps them with speed and agilty. So if you think that your dog may be a hybrid, look a the legs.
